   Wow! How do these people get pictures of themselves climbing? As crazy as it sounds, I wish I were there. That must have been a rush.

   A grand spectrum of opinion, all of which I concur with..

   I actually went to that waterfall a couple of years ago in winter, it’s in the Shiretoko nature park – although they have the name slightly wrong in the article, it should be Furepe no taki. It’s also known as Otome no namida, the Maiden’s Tears. The area is beautiful and quite accessible even in midwinter on snow shoes (although you will need a guide).

   In answer to your question, Kirt, the waterfall is in a small bay and there are a couple of viewing platforms where you can see the whole thing from. My guess would be that the photographer was shooting from there..

   Mmm, I’m inclined to agree with my learned Hyakumeizan colleague Julian here. This is the kind of adventure the Captain likes to admire from a safe distance….
